Every actual, potential or perceived conflict must be disclosed, managed and documented.

1. What is a conflict

A conflict exists where a personal, family, financial, contractual or professional interest may affect, or appear to affect, an impartial decision.

2. Disclosure

Team members, reviewers, advisers and partners disclose relevant relationships before taking part in assessment, certification, procurement or awards.

3. Recusal

A person with a direct interest does not review, approve or influence the case. An independent replacement is appointed and the recusal is recorded.

4. Gifts and sponsorship

A gift, discount, donation or sponsorship cannot be exchanged for a favourable decision. Improper offers are refused and may be reported.

5. Breaches

A breach may result in removal, reconsideration, termination of a relationship and a public correction where necessary.
